Timeless Trends: Denim

I bet you didn’t know that the word jeans originated from a place in Italy called Genoa, as the people that lived there were called Genes.

Today’s outfit post features a clothing item I have had in my closet as long as I can remember.

As this is a post on denim, let’s clarify some denim terms.

Denim is an “Americanization” of a French name “Serge de Nimes”. “Fabric from Nimes, France.”

The top was thrifted.

The dungarees have been in my wardrobe for almost a decade.

The shoes are Puma.

This fashion trend has greatly evolved. From when it was first made by Levi Strauss to fit as work cloths for laborers and farm workers; to its appearance in fashion runways, season after season.

Unlike many fashion items, denim doesn’t discriminate. It fits into every budget. And into every style.

A vintage style lover will rock a boot cut jeans.

A street style lover lover will pull of a denim jacket or dungaree(or both).

A girly girl will do well with a pair of skinnies and heels.

Denim is such a timeless trend. I see it being worn for another couple of 100 years, if not longer.

Taking a cue from the much loved trend, I hope to be timeless. To leave a legacy for the world. To be something that the world can’t do without. So help me God.

What denim item in your closet is most loved? Because at the moment, this old dungaree is mine.

Till next time, Love, Louella. The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11
